- awards two IEEE Canadian Foundation Special Grants

The “Jeux de Genie du Québec 2005” project.
University of Winnipeg for the Women in Engineering project
- approves the concept of a recurring Special Grant to support the IEEE
Canada Student Leadership Workshop (subject to budgetary constraints and
satisfactort reports)
- awards a Vehicular Technology Travel Grant to Carleton University
- appoints Ray Findlay to the Audit committee
- approves changes to the foundation bylaws

Wallace S. Read (F'IEEE), IEEE Canadian Foundation member and President, Read
Management Advisory Services, St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada, is the 2005
recipient of the IEEE Charles Proteus Steinmetz Award for sustained
leadership in organizing IEEE standards activities to be responsive to
industry and the global marketplace.

Isabel Deslauriers receives a special translation award at
the IEEE Canada Annual Awards Banquet in Niagara Falls, Ontario on May 3, 2004
in recognition and appreciation of
exceptional services and contributions as a volunteer translator for the web
translation project which commenced in January 2003 and completed in April
2004.

| The Annual Membership meeting is held on April 6 and;
- receives the President's annual report with the implementation
details resulting from the "Going National" plan - bylaw revisions, expanded
committees, increased accountability, and the completion of the translation
of the web site into French.
- receives a directed donation from IEEE Canada to establish the "IEEE
Canada Vehicular Technologies Awards"
- receives a directed donation from the trustees of the Annual Alberta
Exposition and Conference on Power Quality Issues to establish the "IEEE
Canada Power Quality Scholarship"
- receives the report of the Grants committee summarizing that in 2003,
the IEEE Canadian Foundation
awarded 7 Scholarships, 6 Learning Centre Upgrade Grants,
and 8 Special Grants - totaling $55,950.
- re-elects current directors whose terms are expiring
- elects Celia Desmond as a director for a three-year term (replacing
John Mowbray who resigned due to work-related travel)
