Denard Lynch is a professional engineer and started his career in the telecommunications industry with SaskTel after graduating in Electrical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan in 1972. He held a variety of technical and administrative positions in Regina and Saskatoon, and a stint "on loan" to the Trans-Canada Telephone System in Ottawa in the mid 1970s. During his time at SaskTel, Denard was involved with their Rural Individual Line Service program, the conversion to a 100% digital switching in Saskatoon, and was part of the team that planned and purchased the first commercial fibre-optic transmission system installed in Canada. In 1992 Denard was again transferred "on loan" to Telecommunications Research Laboratories (TRLabs) in Saskatoon where he established the first internet connection for a TRLabs location via an ISDN-based link amongst other technical and administrative tasks. During this time he also returned to graduate school, obtaining a M.Sc. in 1998. After retiring from SaskTel, He joined the Electrical Engineering faculty at the University of Saskatchewan where he is currently an Assistant Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering and an Adjunct Scientist with TRLabs.

Denard has been a member of IEEE for 35 years and is currently a Senior Member. In the past, he has been an IEEE WCC tour speaker on "SaskTel's Broadband Network". He is currently the Chair of the North Saskatchewan Section, and has alternately been Vice-Chair and Chair since 1998. He was also the General Secretary for the 2005 Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering. In this role, he was instrumental in the bid and planning process for the conference and continued to be a driving force behind its successful execution. This was the first Canadian conference to publish its proceedings solely on CDROM. The conference also set new records for paper submissions and net revenues.
