PROGRAMS

Running student programs out of the McNaughton is possibly the best way to promote the IEEE and the Center. This brings people into the center for a positive experience and generally leaves that impression in their minds when they leave. Some of the programs we have started are the Book Exchange and Study Groups. The book exchange program eliminates the need for new students to spend upwards of five hundred dollars on text and the need for senior students to advertise their used books in the stairways and hallways of our school. We provide a portal for students selling electrical engineering text and students in search of electrical engineering text. For now the book exchange is not "on-line" but soon we hope to put it on our web site, which will increase virtual traffic. The pick-ups happen at our McNaughton Center, which increases real traffic. The study groups meet a few times per week in The Center to work on assignments and study for tests. Anyone is welcome to attend IEEE member or not. The large white board in the Center makes for a class room atmosphere, which is great for studying! Another thing The Center maintains is a Bulletin board on the second floor of the 'C' building that deals exclusively with IEEE achievements and upcoming activities. This location sees a little more traffic then the first floor, and is ideal for advertising.
