About Donations - and how to give

The IEEE Canadian Foundation needs your support to help us deliver our programs of Scholarships, Learning Resource Centres, and Special Grants. Together we have a unique opportunity to encourage innovation and provide practical project experience in some of our best engineering students ever.   Please view our Grants page and the pages linked there to see how we use our funds. Total of all grants and scholarships awarded since 1958 to the end of 2007 is $1,198,031.

    Types of Donation
  • Donations can be of any size, and either one-time or continuing.
  • Donations in excess of $1000 can be targeted for specific activities (consistent with the mission of the Foundation) - please contact the Chair of the Donations Committee if you would like to discuss this aspect.

  • Donations that are large enough to perpetually fund an award (scholarship, grant, prize, etc.) can be used for an award presented in honour of a certain person or organization.   For more information, please read about our endowment policy or contact the Chair of our Donations Committee if you would like to discuss this option.

    Four Ways to Donate
  • Annual Renewal - select the IEEE Canadian Foundation as your choice when you complete your annual IEEE membership renewal form (paper or web version)

  • On-line - use this link to a secure website specially operated to enable online giving for Canadian charitable organizations.
  • Mail - send your cheque directly to our treasurer at: IEEE Canadian Foundation, 456 Rogers Street, Peterborough, Ontario K9H 1W9
  • Phone - talk to our Treasurer, Luc Matteau, at 705-743-7712.
    Tax Receipts
  • All donations are tax-deductible in Canada.
  • If you donate by annual renewal, mail or phone, you will be mailed a receipt by our treasurer - as long as you provide your full mailing address.

  • If you donate on-line, within minutes of making a donation, you will receive an electronic tax receipt (accepted by our Canada Revenue Agency) mailed to the email address you provided in the donation process.   You can save and print this receipt at any time to use for income tax purposes.
